Sabden spurned the opportunity to move to 2nd in the Harry Dewhurst Memorial League with a completely lacklustre performance at Nutter Barn.
They were at sixes and sevens from the kick off, and never controlled the match at any point, but despite this, found themselves 1-0 up at half time; with Jack Birkett crashing home a thunderous header from a pinpoint Adam Fuller corner.Moments earlier, Paul Astin had been denied a penalty, with referee Mike Reid adjudging the defender to have played the ball when he clearly did not!Sabden also had the chance to go into the break 2-0, but Astin was denied by good covering from Hitchin in the Bees Knees goal.If the first half had been iffy, then the second was a horror show, and Bees Knees scored 4 times without reply to run out comfortable and deserved winners.

Sabden have the opportunity to atone for this performance when they travel to Bullough Park next week to take on lowly Globe.

Birkett (25)

Jason Bates, covering at centre half, was the lone stand out player for Sabden. If the rest of the squad match Bates`s workrate and desire then they can certainly recover from this setback and maintain a title challenge – but they will have to match Bates` hunger!

Easiest decision Molly will ever have to make – Jason Bates
