Sabden 9 – 1 Great Harwood Rovers

Great Harwood Rover`s preparation for their cup semi-final against the Treacle Miners of Sabden were dealt a serious blow as they were comprehensively played off the park at a muddy Nutter Barn.
After a sluggish start, Sabden got a hold of the game after about 10 minutes, and never really loosened the grip until the game was well beyond the Hoops from Harwood.
Due to some wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping, it took until the 28th minute for the first goal to arrive, David Fallon combining with Charlie Collinge to poke the ball home. Five minutes later, Fallon doubled the lead – again in the right place to steer home a Dean Foxall pass.
Just before the break, Fallon completed his hat-trick, latching onto goalkeeper Tom Diggins` clearance, and going on a mazy run before steering the ball home.
With the two teams scheduled to meet again on a 19th April cup semi-final date, Sabden started the second half determined to twist the knife!
Within a minute of the restart, Fallon turned provider to Foxall, whose close range shot found the net, with the Harwood keeper unfortunate in his attempts to block the shot.
On 48 minutes, Fallon netted his fourth of the afternoon following a defence splitting pass from Ryan Graves.
Now thoroughly disheartened, the Harwood team crumbled, and star-man Fallon played in Adam Fuller who skilfully guided his shot into the corner of the net to make it 6-0.
On the hour mark, Paul Astin scored his 29th goal of the season, running onto a pass from Will Child. Child himself scored on 72 mins, and Fallon scored a scruffy 9th after 75 minutes, following a goalmouth scramble.
Sabden did ease off on the gas for the final 15 minutes, and Harwood were able to score a neat consolation goal with their first shot on target after 81 minutes; a 20 yard strike dipping just under Diggins` bar.

Fallon (28, 33, 42, 48, 75), Foxall (46), Fuller (55), Astin (60), Child (72)

Having had a hand in all but one of the nine goals, David Fallon was the stand out performer in an all-star performance from the Sabden team
